The Korean War Veterans Memorial in Fullerton, Orange County, California, USA, was inaugurated on November 11, 2011, American Veterans Day. Dongwoo Park, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Disability Policy in the Obama Administration, is recognized for his significant contributions to the completion of this memorial, a testament to the behind-the-scenes efforts of Korean-American diplomacy.

Former Deputy Assistant Secretary Park recently participated as an author in a children's picture book featuring 16 war heroes from around the world. Through the Disability Awareness Newspaper Publishing Company (represented by Bong-hyuk Choi), he released a new book titled "War Hero - Colonel Young Oak Kim".

This book was published through the collaborative efforts of co-authors including Deputy Assistant Secretary Park, Tony Park, the Chapter 829 Korean Branch President of the American Veterans Association, Najian, Jeong-soon Chun, Christiana Park, and Bong-hyuk Choi. The book honors Colonel Young Oak Kim and other veterans who dedicated themselves to protecting freedom and democracy. It aims to re-ignite discussions about the Korean War, often referred to as the 'Forgotten War,' and provide an opportunity to educate future generations on the true spirit of democracy.

The publication of the book about war hero Colonel Young Oak Kim not only contributes to strengthening the Korean identity and pride of the next generation of Korean Americans but also serves to establish Korean-Americans as role models. It aims to empower young people to actively participate and contribute within mainstream society, moving from being immigrants to active members with a sense of ownership.

Colonel Young Oak Kim is a war hero who participated in World War II and the Korean War. His bravery and dedication have deeply moved many people. This new book seeks to pass on the sacrifices and courage demonstrated by Colonel Young Oak Kim and other veterans to future generations.

This book will help children learn about the values of freedom and democracy through the stories of war heroes and understand the efforts required to safeguard them. The story of war hero Colonel Young Oak Kim will shed light on the forgotten war and play a crucial role in awakening the true spirit of democracy.
