In particular, cutting-edge technologies depicted in science fiction films provide viewers with wonder and excitement, while also instilling anticipation about the possibility of their realization. Scenes where protagonists utilize highly developed technologies to demonstrate extraordinary abilities seem to offer a glimpse into the future that awaits us.The 2018 film Upgrade is a prime example of this type of science fiction, showcasing the complex interplay between technology and human life. The protagonist, after suffering an unforeseen accident that results in the loss of his limbs, overcomes this challenge with the aid of technology, hinting at the potential transformations that humanity's future might undergo. In the film, the protagonist receives an artificial intelligence (AI) computer chip implant that enables him to move by replacing his damaged nervous system and, furthermore, allows him to exhibit enhanced physical abilities. This serves as a symbolic representation of how advanced technology can revolutionize human life by transcending disabilities.Technological Advancements and Hope for People with DisabilitiesJust as in the film, people who cannot freely use their limbs due to accidents or illnesses exist in the real world. These individuals often experience severe discomfort due to various causes, including nervous system damage, muscle dysfunction, or the loss of parts of their bodies due to accidents. For them, daily life would be a constant succession of challenges that we can hardly imagine. Fortunately, technological advancements are offering new hope to these individuals. The development of prosthetic technology has been remarkable. Carefully designed artificial hands and feet have enabled many people to engage in everyday activities, and recently, technologies like brain-computer interfaces (BCI) have garnered increased attention. This technology focuses on replacing or supplementing damaged nervous systems. Like the AI chip in the film, BCI restores signal transmission between the brain and the body, helping individuals who have lost bodily functions to once again control their bodies freely.Source: [Planning] A Miracle Becomes Reality… ˝Paralyzed Patients Walk Again with BCI Technology˝: Disability Awareness Newspaper - https://www.dpi1004.com/4998
